Here at Last!

Finally, I am getting to set up my page on Speak Life. Carla invited me back in January, but just after I joined we had bushfires sweep through our town, and a week later through most of Victoria, an event which kinda knocked life off its normal axis for a while.

Miracles DO Happen Today...

I was tossing around a topic to write on today, some great ideas came to mind, and then I received an email that redirected my focus. The featured article in her newsletter is entitled “Forget About Miracles” with an opening line of “Whatever the case may be, you can stop praying for a miracle. They just don't happen. Some of you think you've heard of miraculous events or people recovering from treacherous circumstances but it's an illusion.”

I Can Only Imagine...

I sat here today looking at the amazing beauty out my back door, the trees, the birds and so much more wondering how we got here. How did we get to a place where each day is filled with so much stress, fear and doubt of the unknown? Did we unconsciously choose our destination; did we knowingly choose where we are? 10 Basic Rules of Screenwriting

1. Feature film script should be between 95 and 120 pages in length.
Never longer. A script over 120 pages needs editing.
Never shorter. A script shorter than 90 pages is too short.
The perfect length is 100 pages for comedies, 110 for dramas.
Cheat your margins if you have to, but better yet write and cut to the correct length.

Carla Y. Nix and Dwayne G. Smith - World Champion Speaker of the Year



I am fortunate to have served and grown in Toastmasters International. If you are not familiar with Toastmasters, as a speaker, I strongly suggest that you check out their website and find a club near you.

I learned so much by being a Toastmaster. The experience has afforded me to meet many interesting people. Believe it or not, one of the most memorable people that remains in my heart is a lady who is a dynamic speaker, yet many people may never know because she is also a inmate in a Louisiana prison. Yes, prison. Toastmasters also has chapters that are organized in prisons. Incredible speakers!!!! I remain in contact with this lady and trust me when I say that just knowing her has been a blessing to me.

Another person I'll never forget from my Toastmasters experience is Mr. Dwayne G. Smith (pictured above with me). In 2002, Dwayne won the coveted distinction and title of WORLD CHAMPION SPEAKER OF THE YEAR! This is a feat that only the best of the best carry, and it comes with much hard work. I've won a number of titles myself, but not World Champion.

Dwayne is one of the most down-to-earth people I've ever met, yet he is a true motivator, inspirational man, and he has a passion for uplifting and empowering others.
